Hiroshima’s Premier Double Cherry Blossom Viewing Spot, ‘Hanano Mawarimichi,’ to be Held Again This Year

The “Flower Path” where you can enjoy about 200 double-flowered cherry blossoms will be held at the Hiroshima Branch of the Japan Mint from Friday, April 5, 2024.

About Double-Flowered Cherry Blossoms:

Double-flowered cherry blossoms are a variety of cherry blossoms that have more petals than usual, creating a luxurious and layered flower. Their beautiful appearance is loved throughout the country as a symbol of the arrival of spring.

There are many varieties of double-flowered cherry blossoms, each with different colors, shapes, and sizes. The soft overlapping petals blooming together are beautiful, and the large number of petals, sometimes numbering in the tens or even hundreds, is their most prominent feature. The colors of the flowers are diverse, ranging from pink and white to red, giving viewers a fantastical impression.

As the flowers of Somei Yoshino begin to fall and the cherry blossom viewing season comes to an end, the double-flowered cherry blossoms begin to bloom, almost as if taking over. Until 8 p.m., they are illuminated, allowing for enjoyment of nighttime cherry blossom viewing.

The Flower Path, where you can admire the splendid double-flowered cherry blossoms, will be held until Thursday, April 11th.
