Hiroshima’s Miyajima Marathon Returns After 5 Years: Run Through a World Heritage Site!

The Miyajima Marathon, a beloved event that allows participants to run through the stunning scenery of Miyajima, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is back after a 5-year hiatus! The 6th edition of the race will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2024, and entry applications are now open.

The marathon began with the desire to attract a large number of foreign participants, considering that many foreigners visit Miyajima, a representative tourist destination in Hiroshima.

Two courses are available to cater to runners of all levels:

  • 15km: This challenging course features a total elevation gain of 120 meters, offering a rewarding experience for seasoned runners.
  • 5km: This more accessible course is perfect for beginners and those looking for a fun and scenic run.
