The sightseeing boat “Sakura Fune” will once again begin operating at the famous tourist spot, Kintaikyo Bridge, in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, starting from March 16, 2024 (Saturday) this year.
Sakura Fune, which allows passengers to enjoy the Kintaikyo Bridge, spring flowers, and cherry blossoms from the clear stream of the Nishiki River, attracts popularity every year. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the boat is often fully booked with a large number of tourists. The estimated best viewing period for cherry blossoms is late March to early April, and this year is expected to follow the usual pattern.
Sakura Fune offers both non-reserved shared boats, called “Mini Sightseeing Boats,” and chartered sightseeing boats that require reservations up to five days in advance.
While food and drinks are not allowed on the Mini Sightseeing Boats, arrangements for meals can be made on chartered boats. This allows passengers to enjoy the delightful spring scenery while having lunch on board.
During the cherry blossom viewing period, operating hours will be extended, allowing visitors to enjoy the nighttime cherry blossom illumination. The operating period extends until May 31 (Friday).
