Hiroshima Castle Oyster Festival: A Feast of Seafood and Local Delicacies

The highly anticipated “Hiroshima Castle Oyster Festival 2025” will take place on Saturday, February 15, and Sunday, February 16, within the grounds of Hiroshima Castle, one of Hiroshima City’s most popular tourist attractions.

Now in its second year following last year’s success, this gourmet festival showcases the finest seafood and mountain delicacies Hiroshima has to offer, with a focus on oyster dishes. Attendees can look forward to an array of culinary experiences guaranteed to tantalize their taste buds.

One of the festival’s highlights is the “Oyster Gourmet Championship,” where chefs compete for the title of best original oyster dish. Visitors can sample unique oyster creations (priced at 700 yen per serving) and vote for their favorites in this exciting culinary competition.

This year, two new attractions make their debut: the “Gyoza Plaza” and the “Sweet Potato Plaza,” located in the castle’s secondary enclosure. These areas will feature a curated selection of popular vendors from across the country, offering their signature dishes for visitors to enjoy and compare.

Additionally, a special food pairing event featuring oyster dishes promises to elevate the festival’s culinary experience even further.

Admission to this gourmet extravaganza in the heart of Hiroshima is free. The event runs from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on both days.
