The “Miyajima Fireworks Night 2024: Fireworks, Just Like Miyajima!” event, featuring approximately 2,500 fireworks, will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Miyajima, one of Hiroshima Prefecture’s most famous tourist destinations.
In the fall of 2023, a project titled “Supporting the People of Hiroshima with Fireworks” saw 500 fireworks launched over two consecutive days. The fireworks display on Saturday, September 28, will also be part of this project and will mark a significant large-scale fireworks event launched off the coast near Miyajima’s Great Torii Gate, a sight not seen in some time.
Although this year’s event will not include the underwater fireworks that were a highlight of the popular Miyajima Underwater Fireworks Festival, the combination of the Great Torii Gate and the fireworks display promises to be a mesmerizing and impressive spectacle.
The fireworks are scheduled to be launched starting at 6:45 PM, with the show expected to last approximately 20 to 30 minutes. While around 2,500 fireworks are planned, the exact number may vary slightly as adjustments are still being made. Additionally, there are considerations for setting up food stalls and other vendors in the plaza in front of the Miyajima pier, and preparations for the event are currently underway.
