The specialty drink shop “GEBURA Hermana” in Miyajima is a popular Hiroshima lemon bar where you can also enjoy beautiful views

The popular specialty drink shop “GEBURA” on Miyajima, a famous tourist spot in Hiroshima, recently opened its third location, “GEBURA Hermana,” this spring, continuing to lead Miyajima’s drink scene.

After stepping off the ferry and passing through the plaza in front of the pier, GEBURA Hermana is the first shop you’ll encounter on the street.

Housed in a remodeled building with a long history on Miyajima, the store interior features a stylish, simple space with wooden and white accents. While most tourists buy drinks to take with them as they explore Miyajima, many choose to stop in on their way back, taking a moment to relax inside before boarding the ferry.

The second floor of the store offers a scenic spot with views of the Seto Inland Sea, where ferries come and go. Visitors can enjoy a spacious area to appreciate the changing scenery of the sea and the people moving through Miyajima.

At the heart of GEBURA’s menu are Hiroshima lemons. The shop offers around 20 drink options, including highballs and cocktails made with gin and whiskey, nearly all featuring lemons from Hiroshima.

The lemons, shipped directly from contract farmers on Setoda Island in the Seto Inland Sea, a major lemon-growing area, are used whole—including the peel and pulp. They add a touch of bitterness to the drinks’ sweetness, pairing excellently with highballs and cocktails.

The counter is lined with lemons preserved in syrup, prepared through a unique method. When ordering a drink, the syrup is generously ladled into the cup, making for a rich treat.

This summer, a popular choice was the “Hiroshima Lemon Frozen” (soft drink 850 yen / alcoholic 950 yen). Its refreshing combination of lemon and frozen slush is perfect for the lingering daytime warmth.

The “Hiroshima Lemon Highball” (from 700 yen), with plenty of lemon syrup including whole pulp and peel, is a staple favorite among tourists from Japan and abroad.

Conveniently located at the entrance of Miyajima’s sightseeing area, GEBURA Hermana is the ideal spot to pick up a refreshing Hiroshima lemon drink to kickstart your Miyajima adventure.
