Swedish home furnishing company IKEA will open its first-ever pop-up store in Hiroshima Prefecture, titled “IKEA Pop-up Store in Hiroshima.” It will be located in AEON Mall Hiroshima Fuchu and will operate from June 20th, 2024 (Thursday) to October 6th, 2024 (Sunday), as a limited-time shop.
IKEA has previously operated 13 stores in Japan and provided customer support centers and the IKEA online store. With the establishment of product pickup centers and pop-up stores, IKEA aims to increase interactions with end-users and advance omnichannel strategies, thereby offering seamless shopping experiences tailored to their needs.
The opening of the first IKEA pop-up store in Hiroshima Prefecture has been eagerly awaited by purchasers in the prefecture and surrounding areas. Although there were previous plans for an IKEA store in front of Hiroshima Station North Exit, which garnered attention and expectations, it did not materialize due to changes in the company’s expansion strategy. Subsequently, to provide more convenient services to users who utilize IKEA Fukuoka Shinmiya, IKEA Kobe, and the IKEA online store, product pickup centers were established in Hiroshima City and Fukuyama City, enabling the pickup of large furniture at affordable prices. Additionally, shipping costs for small items have been reduced.
