Pokémon Center Hiroshima, currently located on the 6th floor of Sogo Hiroshima’s main building in Naka Ward, will close its doors in late March 2025. It will then relocate and reopen in April on the 2nd floor of Hiroshima Station’s north-side shopping complex, ekie.
Since its grand opening in June 2015, Pokémon Center Hiroshima has been a beloved destination for Pokémon fans and families alike. Over the years, the store has drawn countless visitors, creating cherished memories for many. While excitement is building for the new location at ekie, some longtime patrons are feeling nostalgic about the closure. Recently, fans have been flocking to the current store for one last visit, with some purchasing dozens of merchandise items as a way to commemorate the moment. The checkout lines have been noticeably busy as a result.
Ahead of the Pokémon Center’s grand reopening at ekie, a new Pokémon-themed attraction will debut on the rooftop of Hiroshima Station’s new shopping complex, minamoa, which is set to open on Monday, March 24. The Soramoa Plaza will feature Gyarados Plaza by Pokémon Center Hiroshima, an interactive play area dedicated to Gyarados, the store’s symbolic Pokémon. This space will include large-scale playground equipment designed for families to enjoy together.
Due to high anticipated demand, reservations will be required to use the play equipment upon opening. Details on how to book will be announced on minamoa’s official website in early March.
Additionally, various Pokémon-themed installations and statues will be placed throughout Hiroshima Station, bringing the world of Pokémon beyond the store itself. More details, including the official reopening date, will be announced at a later time.
