The Hiroshima Botanical Garden, located in Saeki Ward, Hiroshima City, is hosting a special illumination event, “Flowers and Lights Pageant,” held on Saturdays leading up to Christmas.
For this enchanting event, the garden extends its hours until 8:00 PM, transforming into a magical space adorned with glowing candles and illuminated installations.
Each event day begins with a candle-lighting ceremony at 4:30 PM, where participants are given special gifts. The illumination officially begins at 5:30 PM with a countdown, marking the moment when the entire garden lights up in unison.
Among the dazzling displays, visitors will find perennial favorites such as the Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus dinosaur installations, Christmas trees, and a heart-shaped tunnel. This year, a brand-new addition—the shimmering Silver Igloo Dome—makes its debut.
For children, the event offers delightful activities like “Flower Scooping,” where they can scoop flowers floating on water, and a Santa hunt, where young adventurers search the garden to find a hidden Santa.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, a winter concert series features different performers each event day, each bringing their unique style to create a warm and joyful Christmas ambiance.
While many visitors arrive by car, a free shuttle bus operates from JR Itsukaichi Station’s north exit during the event period, making public transportation an easy and convenient option.
Why not take the opportunity to visit Hiroshima Botanical Garden and immerse yourself in the magical “Flowers and Lights Pageant” this winter? It’s an experience filled with beauty, wonder, and holiday cheer!
