On August 6, 2025 (Wednesday), Hiroshima will mark the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing. On the day before, August 5 (Tuesday), the annual peace concert event “ONE DREAM 2025” will be held at Peace Memorial Park in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City.
This open-air peace concert takes place along the banks of the Motoyasu River, in front of the Atomic Bomb Dome. The event has been carried on in various forms over the years and celebrates its 28th edition this year.
Aiming to share the message of peace through music and art, the event attracts many citizens and tourists each year and is a highlight of Hiroshima’s peace-related activities.
On the day of the event, various activities will be held throughout Peace Memorial Park under the theme of “Art × SDGs”. These include displays of origami and artworks related to the SDGs, as well as participatory peace workshops, offering people of all ages—from children to adults—an opportunity to engage with the topic of peace in a hands-on and enjoyable way.
The main concert will once again take place at the waterside terrace across from the Atomic Bomb Dome. Under the theme “Music is a gift from the heavens that transcends all and brings humanity together,” the concert will share messages of peace from Hiroshima to the world.
Additionally, a virtual workshop is currently being held under the concept “Designing the Future with the World.” This open project invites people to post on social media about “how they contribute to global happiness in everyday life” or “which SDGs goals they consciously incorporate into their daily lives to help build a better future.”
In this significant year marking 80 years since the atomic bombing, “ONE DREAM 2025” will connect hopes for peace to the future through a diverse blend of music, art, and the SDGs.
On the eve of the Peace Memorial Ceremony, Hiroshima will once again send a powerful peace message to the world.
