Miyajima, one of Hiroshima’s top tourist destinations, will host the 3rd Miyajima Night Market [Miyajima Tsuki Festival] on March 8 (Sat) and March 9 (Sun), 2025.
Traditionally, the Miyajima Oyster Festival has been held on the second Saturday and Sunday of February each year, drawing crowds with its famous oyster delicacies. However, due to poor oyster growth, the festival has unfortunately been canceled for 2024 and 2025.
To make up for this, the Miyajima Tsuki Festival will take its place this year, offering a wide variety of oyster-based dishes to showcase the deliciousness of Miyajima oysters. Visitors can look forward to oyster tempura, kaki pon (oysters with ponzu sauce), oyster-filled okonomiyaki, and more.
The festival will also feature a main stage with an exciting lineup of cultural and entertainment performances, including Kagura (traditional Japanese dance-drama) and live music.
One of the biggest highlights is the comedy stage, featuring popular comedians such as Ogata from Panther, Fruits Punch, and ZAZY. These well-known TV personalities will perform throughout the two-day event, bringing plenty of laughs to the audience.
Additionally, the festival will host the much-anticipated Tomi Kuji (Japanese lottery), a favorite attraction at the Miyajima Night Market. Lucky winners will have the chance to take home incredible prizes, including a PlayStation 5 and a Roomba robot vacuum.
The event will take place at Miyajima Pier Square. Admission to the festival and stage performances is free, and the event will run from 1:00 PM to around 7:30 PM on both days.
In addition to sightseeing on Miyajima, why not make the most of your visit by enjoying the Miyajima Tsuki Festival?
