Mt.Misen
For over 10,000 years this largely untouched ancient woodland forest is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Roughly 1,200 years ago, the founder of Shingon Buddhism, Kobo Daishi, is said to have used the mountain for religious practice, and many of the buildings still remain on the top of the mountain. Even now, the mountain is considered a holy spot, and many people both those of faith and tourists alike come here to pray.
